1) As an IHRA member track, Union County Dragway follows all IHRA safety rules.
2) Any condition considered to be unsafe by Union County Dragway track officials will be adequate grounds for barring or withdrawing a vehicle from participation in any event, until the fault has been remedied to the satisfaction of track officials. The decision of track officials will be considered final in all inspections, eliminations, protests or procedures. Tech staff reserves the right to disqualify any car not meeting the rules or the spirit of the rules. Union County Dragway decisions supersede all and will be final.
3) Any driver caught drinking or using illegal drugs will be disqualified and face possible suspension. Drivers are responsible for their crew members. This applies to test and tune drivers as well.
4) No glass containers on property. No alcohol allowed from head of staging to starting line.
5) No one under 14 years of age allowed in restricted areas ( i.e. head of staging and burnout areas ).
6) Motorized golf carts, atvs, mini-bikes, and four wheelers must have your competition number on it. No one under 14 years old may operate one. No warnings will be given for "playing" on four wheelers, etc. This will not be tolerated anywhere on Union County Dragway property and violators will be asked to leave.
7) No speeding in the pits . Violators will be subject to disqualification.
8) Stay with your car in the staging lanes.
9) No antifreeze in race cars. If you drop antifreeze on the track surface during points races you will be disqualified and lose the points for that race.
10) All vehicles must have a running light or park lights on the rear of the vehicle and MUST be used at night. Please help us keep you safe! In the event of downtrack breakage, please pull over towards the wall, out of the groove, as soon as safely possible, to help limit track cleanup. This is appreciated by the track as well as the other competitors.
11) Excessive braking at the finish line will result in only one warning. After that you will be disqualified.
PROCEDURE RULES
12) Protest Policy: If you want to submit a protest you may do so in writing. Write down clearly and concisely what it is you are protesting, take it along with $100.00 cash to the tech official. If the person protested is found legal then you forfeit your protest fee. The legal party will receive $75 and the track retains $25. If the person is found illegal then you receive $75.00 back. The track will keep $25.00 for the tech fee. Only one person representing the protester logging the protest will be allowed in the protest area. The protest area will be at the scale area.
13) Deep staging is allowed but not guaranteed. Must have DEEP written on car front and rear. Deep staging must be done in one rolling motion.
14) All classes except Junior Dragster will be set on autostart. All staging must be done by driver without assistance from crew. No touching of car once prestaged. This also applies to Junior Dragsters.
15) Do not final stage until your opponent has pre-staged. Courtesy staging will be observed. However, if a driver stages after an opponent "double bulbs" him/her, then you have accepted the run and it is a race.
16) Bye runs will awarded by best reaction time in the previous round. Ties will go to closest to dial-in. Bye runs do NOT carry over into the next round. The first round bye run will be determined by a card draw in the lanes unless a Dash for Cash qualifying round was contested for that class. If so, that winner will receive the first bye run if there is an odd number of entries. Once the final car or pair of cars in the round is sent from the head of staging, the round is complete and late arrivals will not be accepted. If an entry will not fire once paired to leave staging, the pair will be run at the end of the round or will be given three minutes, whichever is longer. At that point, it is a race and it will be deemed a "competition break", not a bye run. NO driver can receive more than one bye run per class UNLESS all entries left in the round have received a bye. Bye run recipients need only to take the tree to get the win. Lane choice will be determined by coin toss or card draw if two drivers want the same lane. Determined bye run will have lane choice in the event of an even number of cars.
17) No burn-outs except in designated area only. Water only for burn-outs. Crew members are not allowed to hold or touch vehicle during burn-out. No burn-outs across starting line except for vehicles without front brakes.
18) Break passes may be issued for catrophic breakage, must be asked for before the first round of eliminations begins. The pass will be good for entry fee less spectator fee and must be used within 3 weeks. No cash refunds.
19) Buy backs and payouts will be done at the window in the top of the tower.
20) In case of a rainout if the first round has been completed the money will be spilt. The race will be deemed complete and points will be awarded up to that point. In the event of a complete rainout it will be rescheduled at the discretion of the track based on scheduling availability. Buy backs will be refunded if the round is not completed.
21) Check your dial-in on the dial-in board. Once you fully stage, you have accepted the run and it will be considered a race.
22) Dial-ins must be clear and legible from the tower. Dial-ins may be changed between rounds, but not after leaving the head of staging.

POINTS
Summit/Union Points racers will be allowed to claim their best ten finishes in 2010. Races may or may not be made up in the event of a rainout due to scheduling conflicts. In the event of less than ten points races contested, one event will be dropped. For example, in the unlikely case of only eight events being contested due to weather or other reasons, then the best seven finishes for all racers will be counted towards the championship points program. All racers wanting to join points must fill out a points sign up sheet by the end of the race day of the first race they wish to count. This can be done in the tower and is free.
All racers entering the points are also automatically entered in the Summit Super Series.
Points will be calculated as follows:
3-enter an eligible entry
1-per round won (including buy backs)
3-win bonus
2-runner-up bonus
Ties for team eligibility will be broken in the following manner:
1. Most wins
2. Most runner-ups
3. Most rounds won
4. Most races entered
5. Run off
The top 5 from Pro, Modified, Junior Dragster and Street points and the next 30 drivers with the most points overall plus 2 alternates will represent Union County Dragway at the IHRA team finals at Darlington held October 6-10. |
